BOOK REVIEW: MILK AND HONEY

Milk and Honey is a collection of short beautiful pieces of poetry. Like prose style, it is written in a simple, short stanza type way, but it is touching and giving an amazing feeling to readers.

-WRITER
Rupi Kaur is a writer and an artist. Her style of writing is simple but mesmerizing. While one reading her poetry feels like it is his/her life and relatable. Because she not only write poetry from her heart and experiences, but she also puts life into those poems. Every single poem has power and meaning in itself.

She writes in a way that readers split their hearts open in front of themselves. They allow themselves to go through what she is offering to them.

- BOOK
This book has magic in it. It is divided into four parts, so the reader is following the different paths and feeling whatever he/she is reading. There are some books which are written from the mind like scientific books, also there are some books which are written from the heart like poetry or any special pieces. This book is truly written from the core of the writer's heart to transform, heal one's heart and soul.
This book has themes like love, loss, trauma, healing and the major one is femininity.

- OVERVIEW
Each part of the book has a unique place. At first, Hurting will hurt you, it will remind you of your childhood, close relations, society. It makes you feel the experiences of a frustrated and caged soul. It will also show you an innocent heart under the cruel or bitter pressures of this world.

After hurting, you will feel loved. It may sound strange but yeah it's true. Because love is a part of life. The loving section is fascinating, it makes me smile sometimes like l am falling in love. No matter, you experience things in deep or not. But still reading, Rupi Kaur's poems you will feel touched. As she wrote;
"You have touched me, without even touching me."

There is no point that if you experience love thing, only then you will feel all this what the writer is talking about. No, but it is for everyone. Every heart can understand and be touched by her poems. She wrote on sex and love's other sides in deep as well.

In the third, she breaks the reader's heart into a hundred pieces. As she wrote with sharp, bitter reality showing pen. If a girl or woman has suffered already much in life, this is going to be hard for her. It's like rub salt into the wound. Some souls will feel tormented after this. Sometimes crying-like moments may happen while reading this part if one is reading from all his/her concern. But it's cool as Rupi will heal us back as well.😉

The fourth and last part, this part truly heal me. If not fully then at least help me in a much better way. Every human soul and heart also deserve to be healed. It is Nature which mostly heals us, outside and inside body.

The writer is showing us how beautiful and splendid we humans are, especially women. She makes us love our things, accept our bodies, faults, and mistakes we did. Also for men and women, she shows a path to follow and feels grateful and healing by one's self. The last part is admirable. It helps a lot in healing.

-LESSON
What she is teaching to every reader is that we must be healed by ourselves. We need to give a chance to ourselves to prove we are the best creatures of God. We all deserve a second chance. Not only that, but we must love and explore ourselves, inside or outside.

-EXPERIENCE
I guess maybe it is me, emotional that I am feeling attached to this book. Smiled many times, cried, feel loved, broken, bad soul but healed and accepted, loveable feelings l have also. It takes to a high level of enjoying life with loneliness, love my solitude. It shows me how blessed I am, especially being a woman. Pregnancy, having a baby inside you, is the most adorable feeling, this book shows us both sides of that too. I love that part most from the book. Exposure to feel while reading this book is also a lovely experience. Reading this book, Milk and Honey, has its own joy. It is a pleasurable read.

-RECOMMENDATION
I would recommend this book to everyone. But to girls and women l would say go for it, enjoy it and feel it, as l did.

This short poems based book is about just 200 pages. A good reader can read it in a single sitting, but l took my time. Read it slowly, let it sink into my heart more, and influence me to heal and accept myself.

I love this book because I am loving it from all my heart.  It touches me deeply, that's why I am reading pieces again and again.

I have no good words to say thanks to the person who suggests this book to me. But l know that friend of mine, make me feel blessed and grateful for reading this book and also having such nice people in my life.
